TOOLING SHERIDAN STYLE

This workshop covers carving the Sheridan style. Akiko has developed her own interpretation of the style over many years. The workshop will cover how to understand her tips and tricks and flow of tooling.

Sheridan style is characterized by vines and a series of circles in alternating directions, with flowers or other focal points in the centres of the circles. Leaves are used to fill in areas between circles and changes of direction. This workshop covers how to carve and decorate a range of different flowers and leaves.

Sheridan has developed over the years, Akiko has studied with the world’s best after her first visit to Sheridan in 1997 she met and learned from the master’s Don King, Jim Jackson, Don Butler, Clint Faye, then later in 2007 spent two months with Clint Fay making a full and half size saddle.

There are many ways to carve any given pattern, styles have changed over time, but the Sheridan Style developed by the late Don King and others has had a substantial influence worldwide.
